Would be even better if LP could figure out optimal height for the ends of a hairpin based on surrounding dynamic marks and note positions, and calculate angle accordingly.

One of my (minor) frustrations with Lilypond is that the ends of hairpins don't necessarily line up with nearby dynamic marks -- calculating the optimal vertical position of dynamic marks and hairpin ends could probably be better interrelated.
