I believe the rest of the templates in the Appendix to the LM
have been in the form you suggest for at least 6 years.  They
will remain there for those users who want to learn.  But many
users don't want to learn; they just want an easy way of producing
simple music with as little effort as possible.  Why not give it
to them as an alternative?
