In my understanding the docstring for Repeat_acknowledge_engraver means: If a repeat is entered via \repeat volta this engraver fills repeatCommands with settings for 'start-repeat, 'end-repeat and 'volta. Nowadays, it seems 'volta is not filled anymore, afaict. Thus I think a change is needed: Either we change the docstring for Repeat_acknowledge_engraver not setting 'volta in repeatCommands for automatic repeats or change the engraver itself to fill 'volta again.
