Did you verify that it linked to the correct libraries?
Especially, what does
ldd `which lilypond`
return?

configuring and making lilypond works, again apart from documentation
(but the errors in making the documentation are ominous in
retrospect). make check turns up no errors.

Yet lilypond won't run:

$ lilypond --verbose brollupsmarch.ly
lilypond --verbose brollupsmarch.ly
GNU LilyPond 1.8.1
lilypond_datadir: `/usr/local/share/lilypond'
local_lilypond_datadir: `/usr/local/share/lilypond/1.8.1'
localedir: `/usr/local/share/locale'
LILYPONDPREFIX: `/usr/local/share/lilypond/1.8.1'

ERROR: In procedure dynamic-func:
ERROR: symbol not found

I'm reverting to Guile 1.4 and Lilypond 1.6, but does anyone have an
idea of what it would take for me to get Lilypond 1.8 up and running
on OpenBSD?
