I put off upgrading to 1.7/1.8 for a long time because the 1.4 to 1.6
upgrade was so horrendous. But really since then the developers seem
to have been much more conscientious about maintaining the convert-ly
script when they change the syntax. I use a lot of fairly obscure
features, and have had to do very little manual editing of the files
I've converted to 1.8 and 2.0.
