Has anyone else had this problem? Does something need to be changed in the
fink .info file? I have noticed that others have posted to the list saying
that they have installed even newer versions using Fink. How? How can one
install a version of a program that is not listed using the list command?

Also what is the best way to update a Lilypond installation? Install a new
version and then remove the old? Or is it possible to update just the
application?

Thanks in advance.

I believe db42-shlibs is in the unstable tree of Fink. I have installed lilypond 2.1.10 successfully through Fink. I installed 2.1.12 but found that it introduced spacing problems. While these were corrected in 2.1.14, I have not been able to successfully compile it. I haven't spent much time trying, which is probably a good thing since I really don't know what I'm doing!

I am using OS 10.2.8, and Fink 10.2-gcc3.3. You basically follow the instructions in the Fink FAQs, first establishing a "local" tree, then copying and modifying the lilypond "info" and "patch" files. All I had to do (with the lilypond 2.0.1 info and patch files) was use BBedit (lite) to find and replace all existing 2.0.1 references with 2.1.x, where x was the version to which I was updating.
There is one replacement in the info file and 54 in the patch file.

Fink index followed by fink update lilypond downloaded the version specified; I ignored the complaints which ensued about incorrect checksum (pick option 4) and everything compiled correctly.

db42-shlibs were already installed in my system.
