Actually, I'm more inclined to agree with you (I *despise* overly-HTML-formatted email, even though I use gmail, because even with a good fontconfig setup it looks like garbage). I was, rather, expressing some enthusiasm that we're a community that has intensive discussions about stuff like this, without taking any position in the discussion itself.
