:) That's exactly what I meant. With (a) this conditional-kill-lyric-extender-callback in Alexander's files and (b) a "put extenders after every syllable" philosophy this does not sound very complicated. (a) is quite short an easy to understand, (b) is of course not elegant but it could work as all the non-melisma extenders are killed by (a).
