It seems a while ago, but I remember ioctl & EVIOCGRAB were difficult to get working (though it is robust on my system now). I've tried the other keyboard that came with my computer and it worked fine. One possibility: LilyQuick is trying to grab the wrong keyboard (though I'm sure you know what you are doing). I tried to install Fedora on a spare partition, but ran into a problem.
