Yes, if you're doing transposition - or stuff like auto-generated guitar
diagrams, which is another thing people like to have - then you need an
internal representation that admits generating note sets.  A
print-what-I-typed feature doesn't address that and couldn't replace the
existing mess; it would have to be an addition, not a replacement.
