I'm not sure if this the official way to solve your problem. There used to be
an example of lyric alignment on the website, but I can't seem to find it.
Try this around each line:
\override LyricText #'self-alignment-X = #-1
In_peace,_let_us
\override LyricText #'self-alignment-X = #0
