Hi Damian, I can't help you out all that much since I've never needed to do this in my own work, but be sure to check out https://tex.stackexchange.com/a/267640/61215 if you haven't already (along with his blog post, in German, that's shared in that answer). He doesn't use accidentals, but you may find it helpful on your search.
