Hi Zone, For some reason I can't see your original post anymore. Anyway, since somebody mentioned Skim, I now recall there was a length discussion of this exact same topic in the list a while ago. It would be worth you while to look at the archives.
I do sometimes use a Mac, and I do also now recall that Apple removed that functionality in Preview in Sierra, so nothing can be done to fix it. Skim seems to be one good solution. But how about Frescobaldi?
