Not sure what happened there. I've attached all the images I referenced as well as the .ly sample file and pdf. I think what I'm looking for is something that will push the first note in each line over by 1/2 of the length of the lyric associated with it (with a fixed starting point and perhaps some other offsets like half-a-notehead or some such to make it perfect). But I am not a lilypond expert by any stretch.
