Hello Lucas,

the vertical centering requires the `outside-staff-priority` to be set to `#f`.
Else Lilypond will treat the TextScript as outside staff element, which means
that it will always be placed above or below the staff (unless you use extra
offset).

This should get you vertical centering. If you want horizontal centering too
you could tie your TextScript to a transparent MultiMeasureRest instead of a
skip. Lilypond will center Text above MMR over the measure, so you should get
nice horizontal centering this way.

See here working example code:

%%Code begins
\version "2.24.4"
arrow = -\tweak Y-offset #0
  -\tweak outside-staff-priority ##f
  -\markup
  \concat {
    \draw-line #'(5 . 0)
    \hspace #-0.2 % This is to bridge the small indentation in the arrow-head
    \arrow-head #X #RIGHT ##t
  }
\new Staff {
  c''1 \stopStaff << \tweak transparent ##t R1-\arrow >> \startStaff c''1
}
%%Code ends

Best regards,
Tina
