Well, comments and variable names in LilyPond snippets were actually
translatable some years ago! Have a look into the `Documentation/po/`
directory; the script `auxiliar/texi-langutils.py` still collects them
– the related strings are tagged with `(comment)`, and `(variable)`.
However, the feature to actually apply those translations (via
`lilypond-book`) is currently broken, as is the Makefile target
`po-update` in directory `Documentation/po`.
