If you are more precise in your description of what you tried to do, then
it's much easier to provide an accurate answer. If possible, include a small
(but complete so it can be ran directly through LilyPond) example  of what
you have tried. Also, please always tell what LilyPond version you are using
and on what operating system.

Rereading your question again, I realize that you perhaps have not even
tried the program yet, but are just trying to figure out its capabilities.
In that case, the answer is that you of course can typeset all kind of
textual remarks, for example those you mention.
