But I don't quite understand what you mean with 'note entry suddenly stops'. You mean LilyPond does not render the entered notes from a certain point? Please look carefully at the LilyPond input syntax. Maybe you forgot to place a section inside your \score block, forgot a closing bracket or the music continues on a different page.
