Actually my mental model for Lilypond's effectiveness largely consists of a case-by-case assessment of how easy it is to achieve a given Ferneyhough notational choice :-P So I'd be very happy to see this feature added, especially as I think it'd be unique among notation solutions. (Ferneyhough's more recent scores, prepared using Finale, don't use this notation.)
