the solution i posted is the "recommended" way of doing things according to the 
documentation:

your solution is far more elegant and intuitive (apart from the ,#{ construct). 
[i tried doing it with scheme markup commands, but that didn't work].

might i suggest that snippet be changed? i'll gladly volunteer to create a 
patch later this evening, if desired.
