As a composer. after writing a piece by hand, I would then "enter" the
piece on the computer.  I've always referred to the process as
such--"entering" being getting the thing "into the computer" however I
could.  This isn't inconsistent with making editorial choices: between
alternates readings, for example.  Later, I would beautify it.
