Yes, this helpdesk interface is a real pain-in-the-***. I used to just email the tcc, and they could use whatever problem-tracking software they wanted internally. I still email them (usually a specific person in the TCC) when there's a problem, so I don't deal with their web interface. Why don't you let them know how annoying their interface is, rather than let us know? All these companies that replace generic email by a webform that they "can better control" (Amazon.com also comes to mind) don't seem to understand what a huge disservice they are doing their customers. Some customers have limited webbrowsers that don't have all the features they expect. Web forms don't have the features that people expect from a mailer, such as: spell-checking, convenient editing, saving copies of your message, stopping a message in the middle and continuing later, multi-lingual support, attachments, accessibility for people with disabilities, and everything else people expect in their own personal email program. > 1. why use IDs for identification? why not TX usernames or something > similar? Virtually everything in the Technion is numbered by IDs. Your id is flaunted all-over-the-place in grade lists, the library, and so on. When I was a student, my t2 login was "s"+my ID (I think now they let you choose different logins on t2). By the way, what prevents you from giving them a fake id? Just choose a random number (even a different random number each time). When you are reporting a problem, do you really care if they can "identify" you? :) -- Nadav Har'El | Saturday, Feb 9 2002, 27 Shevat 5762 [EMAIL PROTECTED] |----------------------------------------- Phone: +972-53-245868, ICQ 13349191 |Share your knowledge.
