anyone know where to get the specs for or a command line encoder/decoder

teehee!, yeah they ported it. pathetic half assed i dont know what. its
version 3.5, (version 4 is what comes bundeled with many many graphics
cards) wich is ancient and theyre charging something like $600 for this.
version 7 i would have looked at, and probably gotten. the funny part is
that thsis is the same version they ported to IRIX(SGI). perhaps they were
testing the unix waters. methinks they did not like it, go figure. half
assed attempt. waste of pixels.
