It would be a very useful tool.  I haven't yet learned script fu but
it is an incentive. :-)

I discovered something else interesting while experimenting.  If I add
comments using mogrify or Gimp, I can also use xview to view the
comments.  Click on the 'window' button and there is a choice to view
text.  The comments show up.  However, Adobe (at least 3.0) PhotoShop
comments are't found.  If you use xview's option to view the binary,
you can still view them by searching around the JPEG header.

Still it does what I needed either way.  Thanks for the help everyone!
