Oops my bad. I didn’t open the original example from Garrick which does look like a “Hen of the wood’ type. But they usually grow off base of a tree unlike this example.

Nor am I a mycologist but I don’t think this is a “Hen of the woods” they are usually in fanned clusters a la Oyster mushrooms. Maybe a “Parasol Mushroom” some verities have caps are 4-9 inches large or it may be a “False Death Cap” (1.5-4 inch cap). Back home in Northeastern Italy many members of my family enjoy edible mushroom hunting. I left too early to acquire the talent and besides species in US may look like ones in Europe but not be the same. So better to live by the old rhyme “He who lives to walk away, lives to fight another day” ;-) So for the most part, I just long for fresh Porcini and truffles from afar. I'm no mycologist so this is just a guess, but it looks a little like hen of the woods. Since I don't even play a mycologist on TV streaming services, don't use this advice in your cooking. While we're IDing shrooms, can anyone tell me what is sprouting out of one of my flower pots? (I don't mean to derail Garrick's question so answer his first if you know) shroom470a.jpg.
