Unfortunately I have noticed more and more “litter” or trash along roads &
along local trails. I pick up trash everyday as I tend to walk often. I have no
data, however I think picking up trash when we see it might help to prevent
others from adding to what is already strewn about. We are fortunate to have
open space, beautiful trails, wetlands, etc. and as much as we can join
together to keep the trash picked-up, we’ll all benefit. Doing so is not
particularly fun (wear gloves if you have them!) yet the improvement shows
right away. Sometimes after snow melt more trash is visible, though boxes of
beer cans (Budlight and Coors in particular) are common esp after weekends.
Some smaller items like cigarette butts are also increasingly plentiful along
roads (and yes I’ve found some along trails.) These do not break down much even
over time.
