Dear Neighbors,

Over the years, the overwhelming majority of LincolnTalk members have
expressed frustration over prolonged email exchanges between two (or a few)
people. Other posts get lost in the back-and-forth debating. We know this
doesn't make everyone happy, but it makes the vast majority of
LincolnTalkers so; ergo...

...as stated on the website, the LincolnTalk policies on civility include
taking continued conversations offline - they are clear and are a direct
reflection of feedback the moderators have received.

We support an exchange when someone posts an opinion, someone posts a
rebuttal, and the original poster clarifies... if there's more to be said,
it's time to take it offline. If you wish, the debating parties may agree
to invite others to their continued email exchange... "Dear LincolnTalk
Members, we intend to continue our discussion off-line per LT policies. If
you wish to continue to be included in our debate, please let one of us
know and we'll make sure you're included."

To be clear, for 99.9% of posts the moderators have ever held, the issue
has been about conduct more so than content. All sides of an issue are
welcome... in moderation (pun intended).

Yours in Community,
Margit
