I have been working with an Iraqi family for 2 years in conjunction with LexRAP
(Lexington Refugee Assistance Program). This is a lovely family with 4 kids who
are currently living in affordable housing in Concord. I am seeking a volunteer
who might be interested in mentoring and tutoring a thirteen year-old boy this
summer and perhaps into next school year. This is a really nice kid and the
family is lovely. This young man is fluent in English but had very poor
schooling in his early academic career. He has considerable learning
disabilities that are interfering with his ability to focus and inhibiting
development of basic reading and studying skills. He has been thoroughly
evaluated, will be attending summer school, and is now on an educational plan.
He is eager to learn but his lack of confidence gets in the way of applying
himself.

If you are interested, please get in touch with me, and we can discuss further.
