I am working with a South Sudanese family that is in total distress. The
parents both lost one of two jobs during the pandemic. The kids were learning
remotely.-means that they weren't learning at all.The apartment in Chelsea has
rats and roaches. Sometimes the landlord turns off the water. About two years
ago, the father became very violent leading him to go to prison for several
years so far. He is in jail; but has never had a trial and there is no bail.
Not great. Terrible system. The mother who works at Whole Foods is suppose to
have enough money to pay the bills and take care of four kids? Impossible.
The mother and kids are moving into a shelter next month because they are being
evicted.Better than being on the streets- shelters are usually filled up and at
times are very violent. So it doesn't always work- depends on the shelter. Some
are filled with women and kids. The family is rock bottom so we want to make
this as gentle as possible for the kids. They need warmth- boots, coats, warm
fuzzy things. Journal for the young girl, the mother needs warm clothes or a
gift certificate and the father needs soup because the food at the prison is so
bad.
We have found someone to get the kids boots but need help in getting them
winter clothes esp coats.
Atem is a 13 year old girl and size small
Ajak is a 11 year old boy and size 12
Deng is a 7 year old boy and a size 7
Bob is 6 and a size 7.
The names are made up!

Please email me if you can help make Christmas a wonderful holiday for this
family.
This family has been the hardest we've dealt with. Speech issues, mental health
issues, the prison system a medicure school system at best,.a sleezy slum lord,
an overwhelmed system. A lot for the Mom to deal with.
If you can help, let me know.
