Dear Lincoln Talk,
If you're seeking a meaningful way to contribute this holiday season, consider a donation to assist families in our community who are experiencing homelessness. This is my 10th year organizing a Holiday Drive for Heading Home, an organization located in Boston dedicated to ending homelessness. With an ever-increasing need due to the housing crisis, rising costs, and growing numbers of migrants, your help is more crucial than ever. Heading Home encourages donors to contribute to online gift cards and children’s books, allowing parents to select gifts that best suit the needs of their children. Giving online is easy! You have two options: - If you’d like to make a quick donation, simply go to our Somerville Moms and Beyond <https://www.justgiving.com/team/somervillemoms-beyond> page and click “Donate to a team member” to make the donation in the amount that is right for you. - However, if you’d like to fundraise with your co-workers, friends, and/or family, you can join our team and set up your own fundraising team. Explicit directions for doing that are below. Whatever you choose, please make your donation by November 30th. Please also consider purchasing children's books for Heading Home through wish lists at Amazon <https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/12SXSNL0Z5AUV?ref_=wl_share> or Porter Square Books <https://www.portersquarebooks.com/wishlist/2987> (PSB) by November 20th. At PSB, you can use the code HEADINGHOME2023 for a 10% discount. Amazon books will ship directly to me, and I will pick up books from PSB. If you choose to buy from another vendor, please ship them to me (email me for address). I will deliver all books to Heading Home. To understand the leading role Heading Home plays in helping people get back on their feet for the long-term, and for a chance to engage with the development team, please sign up for a virtual presentation and Q&A session via this Google form <https://forms.gle/bBzT9mDFxxqw71vg6>. I will determine the most popular timeslot and send out an invite. Please consider making the holidays a little brighter for individuals in our community. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me, and if you give, please send me your email address (jale...@gmail.com) so I can send an annual notification of the Drive. Sincerely, Kim Jalet (Brooks Rd.) P.S. Please like our Facebook page <https://www.facebook.com/somervillemomsheadinghomeholidaydrive/>. P.P.S. A note about receipts for taxes. I will notify you when I receive children’s books if you include a gift receipt with your name or email me your confirmation. If you buy children’s books, at the end of the Drive, I will send out an in-kind receipt for your tax records. If you donate via the Heading Home website, you will get a donor receipt from them. *ABOUT HEADING HOME:* Heading Home is dedicated to eradicating homelessness in Greater Boston, offering comprehensive support that includes housing, life skills training, financial literacy, and job training.
