| I know I am coming late to this conversation, but with all the other financial pressures we are facing, both immediately and long term, I see less and less reason to pay for building a community center. This is especially true since we already have a variety of buildings in town that could be used for that purpose, even if not optimally designed. Bemis Hall; the old Post office; and (while not now belonging to the town) one of the two churches across from the library whose congregations have merged. This is a time in history when more than ever, the financial markets are unpredictable, and many think we could be heading into a deep depression. On top of this, as many have mentioned, our town is aging, and we have little or no industry to add to our tax base. From my perspective, we need to tighten our belts sharply - stop pointing fingers at each other and agree that we are not going to spend anything that we don’t absolutely need right now. I am a Democrat, but I hew by the historical bent towards thrift that our party used to pride itself upon. Let’s agree - no unnecessary expenses right now! M - Sent from iPhone. Typed by thumb.
