Interesting. I am a fan of "High School Quiz Show" on PBS. I believe that
last year's finalists were Lexington and Acton-Boxborough, and Lexington won.
I recognized some of the other contestants in the top-40 list, e.g. Boston
Latin. I don't think that Lincoln-Sudbury has ever competed. I wondered if
they've entered the prelims and didn't make the final 16 who appear on TV? Of
course, being able to answer quickly "trivia" questions isn't the only measure
of the quality of an education. The questions are not really trivia, but cover
a wide range of topics. I'm always amazed at how readily the kids can answer
questions about today's pop stars and sports heroes, but usually choke on
questions about, e.g., Jane Austen or Shakespeare. Others' take on this?
