Some yard “clean up” chores that we are accustomed to practicing every fall strip away the resources that soil life, insects, birds, and other animals need to survive winter. By skipping a few common practices, you will build healthy soils through natural decomposition processes and provide food and shelter to at-risk and endangered animals.
