Is your water heater living on borrowed time? You may want to replace it with a
heat pump water heater before the federal incentives end in the new year.

The MassSave incentive is $750 and the current federal tax credit is
approximately $700 according to MassSave.

Domestic water heating is about 18% of a home’s energy use in Massachusetts,
the second largest in a home. Replacing a gas, electric resistance, or oil
water heater should save you money on your energy bills. A heat pump hot water
is 60-80% more efficient than an electric resistance heater.

There are 120V models now as well as a new GE model that uses 120 V or 240 V so
it’s easy to put in and if you find you need to use the electric resistance
back up, you can have an electrician install the electrical line.
