Oct. 28: Linda Shoemaker and Louise Grasmere

Wassa, Wassa! African Songs of Joy and Celebration

Linda and Louise have a long history with Mystic Chorale, enriching many
concerts with their voices, their amazing percussion, and their hearts and
souls. We’re so happy to have them leading tonight’s Sing!

“Wassa” is the Malinke word for JOY, the goal of this sing-along! Join us
for an uplifting evening of songs from Africa, accompanied by live
drumming. We’ll sing exciting, rhythmic call and response songs,
including "Kuku," a song of celebration sung throughout Western Africa,
and "Sila," a song from Guinea that promises you can always find your way
back home. The chorus will also sing two African energizing choral
pieces: "Ipharadisi" from South Africa and "Kakilambe" from Senegal.

You’ll be singing and dancing in your seats – or in the aisles!

Nov. 4 – Quinn Eastburn and Arlea Forbes-Prater: From Classics to Hidden
Gems: A Folk Sing-along

Both Quinn and Arlea were raised in musical families and started performing
publicly at a very young age. They both play multiple instruments and
perform as singers as well. This incredibly talented pair of Berklee School
of Music students will lead us in a sing-along featuring a wonderful mix of
folk songs. We’ll enjoy timeless classics like "The Circle Game"

   credit cards.

How the Sing-alongs work

   - The Sing-alongs are in-person events and will not be livestreamed or
   recorded.
   - All sing-alongs will take place at First Parish Unitarian Universalist
at 630 Massachusetts Ave. in Arlington.
   - Singers will need to enter through the Mass. Ave entrance or the
entrance near the library. The rear door in the Sanctuary will be locked.
   - Online ticketholders, please check in at the welcome table in the
   lobby when you arrive.
   - Day-of-event tickets will also be sold in the lobby.
   - Scholarships are not available for the series or individual
   Sing-alongs.
   - Singers may sit wherever they'd like in the Sanctuary; they will not
   be divided in to sections.
   - We ask any singer not feeling well to stay home, for their own safety
and for the safety of the community.
   - Wearing masks is optional. Rows in the back of the sanctuary will be
set aside for masked singers. Singers not wearing masks will be asked to
sit at the front so that they are not singing over masked singers.
   - Singers are welcome to bring water with them; otherwise the Sanctuary
is a food- and beverage-free space.
   - If you are a Mystic, please remember to wear your name button!
   - Join fellow singers for dinner before the sing-alongs. We call these
Mystic Eat, Meet & Greets! View the schedule here
