That's not completely true. It is true that the Havok Xtra is no longer
delivered with authoring but it is still available as part of the Shockwave
Player. Last year we swtiched to a "slim" installer which only contains a
minimum set of Xtras, thus Havok is not part of that installer (nor are many
Macromedia Xtras). But we also offer full installers for download that
contain all Xtras, Havok is included in that installer. Also, you can still
utilize the download if needed feature for Shockwave just as you always
have. Thus, the only changes in our relationship with Havok surround our
ability to distribute their Xtra with Macromedia Director MX 2004 in
particular.

As to the original question, will there ever be a 3D update? Folks are
right, I cannot say anything concrete here and that's mostly driven by my
employer's policies than anything else. It's tough, with such a long gap
since an update I can totally understand why developers like yourselves are
looking to other options. As long as I'm still here and working on Director
I'll continue to look for ways to revitalize our 3D efforts, but at this
stage in the game I'm not going to give any rah-rah speeches (words aren't
worth much).

Sorry I don't have something more rosy to share...
