If you mean you want "mike" to be a variable, to which the directory is 
assigned, then yes, but lose the quotes around the variable:

set OK = baXCopy( the moviePath & "boo", mike,  "*.*", "Always",true)
I can just use the following in the below script:
  set OK = baXCopy( the moviePath& "boo", "mike",  "*.*", "Always", 
true )
