you could do it using QT. If you use the standalone player you can place an ini file next to it (QuickTimeInstaller.ini) containing:
[QTSETUP] license_option=0 no_dialogs=true registration_dialog=false supress_speed_dialog=true install_qtjava=false install_qd3d=true show_sample=false show_readme=false show_programfolder=false install_qtinfo=true That would give you a silent install if you launch it in the background. Although I don't think Apple is allowing you to use the installer in such a way..
