It's pretty easy, actually. Chinese fonts, both Big-5 and GB encoded, have the Roman character set in them. Just embed the Chinese font and type the English character using that font. This really only works reliably for English, because Big-5 and GB follow the ASCII encoding system for characters 0-127. For a lot of Western European characters--umlauts, tildas, and the like--you will have to consult a chart, or create a custom character (there are areas in both encodings that allow for custom character creation).
