I'd say James's 3D coverage is in-between. There's a lot more there than you would expect from a general book like Gary's or Bruce's (of course, he covers fewer topics). If you really need a lot of depth, Paul's book may be the more complete in that area. If I was buying just one Director book just now, though, I'd buy James's.
