maybe you could check the registry for the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Adobe/Acrobat Reader entry, or something like
that?

hello list,

i'm opening some pdfs in the user's browser via a button. so i have:
on mouseUp
gotoNetPage "@/pdfs/test.pdf"
end

this works fine.

but how do i check whether the user actually has acrobat reader installed
so
i can annoy him with a "sorry, you need to install acrobat reader first"
alert? essentially i need a
  check if reader is installed
  if yes
  open document
  if no
  put out an alert

it's not do-able without an xtra, right? please help.

thx,
heike .-)

ps: and just to annoy everyone completely... where are the searchable
archives of the list again?? i only have this adress:
http://mail4.fcgnetworks.net/archives/lingo-l/ which does not have a search
window .-(
