How about:

Open "Drive:\pathname\filename.exe" (on the PC)

or

open (the pathname & "filename.exe") if it's next to the projector?

I just tried
open "c:\winnt\notepad.exe"
and it worked just fine to launch my notepad.exe in the "windows" directory.
