We're not on majordomo any more - we use MailMan now.
I will probably try to start restricting the posting to members. The problem I ran into last time (using majordomo, granted) was that someone might have signed up as [EMAIL PROTECTED], which is how they get mail, but when they send mail out, it gets sent out by their server as either [EMAIL PROTECTED] or even [EMAIL PROTECTED], or [EMAIL PROTECTED], and so, although they were a subscriber, their postings were rejected. At that time, it created more havoc to restrict to posters than to live with the occasional spam, so we made a decision to take the occasional spam, and filter out as much as we knew were bad. I have to be offsite during the day today to meet with a client, so I'll leave it alone for the moment, but maybe tonight when I"m back I'll turn it on and see how much of a mess it makes. Also, sometimes it's not so much the spam itself, which might be once a month, but the flurry of emails commenting on it that clog things up. If we just ignore it, or if someone (not everyone!) brings it to my attention, I can filter out new ones, without having half our traffic devoted to talking about it.
