Marmalade Multimedia is pleased to announce the release of the Director MX update of the Macintosh Amplitude Xtra. The version 2.1 release consists of the Mac OS X and MacOS 8/9 xtras as well as the Shockwave packaged xtras for Macintosh users. Please see the User Guide for information on updating Shockwave projects to work with Director MX/Shockwave 9. Version 2.1 is a free upgrade for existing users of the Amplitude Xtra.
The Amplitude Xtra allows Director movies to receive amplitude values for sound cast members in real time as a sound is playing. These values represent the relative "loudness" of the sound and can be used to synchronize sound and vision in a variety of useful ways, including animating sprites, implementing lip-sync in animated characters or plotting waveforms and VU meters in Director projects.
