You can get USB barcode and credit card readers, they plug into a USB port (on any platform that supports USB) and work right away, without any Xtras.
How do you address the USB device?
You don't. The input is identical, in every possible way, to someone typing the numbers on the standard keyboard. Director has no idea at all that it came from a non-keyboard USB device.
