Neither of these changes are in Director MX 2004. You cannot record and
encode MP3's nor is Ogg Vorbis a built-in supported media type.

And the issues aren't just licensing related. As with all feature
suggestions it's a matter of trying to spend our time and resources in the
best way for the widest possible user audience. Adding MP3 encoding would
not benefit as many people as will the MIAW changes we implemented this
release, nor would that come close to range of effect that our projector
publishing changes will have. So while there are licensing concerns, the far
larger concerns surround the question of "is that really the best use of our
time and resources?".
