Do the files have a Mac file type and creator? They should have PDF looking icons if they do, not plain document ones. The file type and creator are used by the system to find the parent app.

They were set to open with the Preview App on Mac. I switched them to open with Acrobat Reader and still no go. Then I downloaded a utility to change/set fileType and Creator (since they didn't have one), and now it works on machines with classic installed. Unfortunately I don't have classic installed--but that's just me.

I do wish I had used a more OS X native method though.
