IIRC, there is a setting in later versions of Windows (ME+ maybe?) where you can indicate the action you want it to take when receiving a shutdown request. IOW, it varies by machine. One machine might perform the shutdown, the other might just log off, depending on how it's configured. It might be in your security settings.

You know, I used to have winxp installed and it worked just fine (I mean
pc really turned off). So I can't come up with the workaround.
