Sorry, I steered you wrong there. With DMX2004 I get an error code of -84 returned (which also doesn't belong to the Audio xtra).
And one final update before we should perhaps take it off-list: it works with DMX2004 if I record mono, or use axSetEnvironmentInfo("convertNumChannels", 1) prior to axConvertToFile() and I can find NO combination that works with DMX
