DirectXtras is pleased to announce a new cross platform version (2.0)
of DirectControl Xtra.

About DirectControl Xtra:
-------------------------

DirectControl Xtra is a cross platform, easy to use Scripting Xtra for
Macromedia Director, Authorware, and Shockwave, that provides fast and
consistent access to analog and digital joysticks.

DirectControl Xtra also applies to other ancillary input devices that
track positions within an absolute coordinate system, such as a touch
screen, digitizing tablet and light pen.

Each device can use up to six axes of movement, a point-of-view hat, and
32 buttons.

Applications can use DirectControl Xtra to determine the capabilities of
attached joysticks and query for their axes position and buttons
information.

DirectControl Xtra is available for Director 5 and above, Authorware 4
and above, and is compatible with Windows 2000, 9X, NT and MacOS (PPC).

DirectControl Xtra is Shockwave safe, so it can also be used with
Shockwave 7 or later and when safety features in Director are turned on.

An auto downloadable Shockwave safe package of DirectControl Xtra is
also available. It is a compressed, small sized (about 20K) version of
the Xtra, that can be downloaded automatically from a web site to the
user's local machine whenever needed, and once installed provides
Shockwave applications on the web with access to joysticks.

New in version 2.0:
-------------------

- The new version is now available for both Windows and MacOS. Code
written on one platform will work just the same on the other platform.

- A small sized, auto downloadable Shockwave safe package of
DirectControl Xtra is now available, allowing Shockwave movies on the
web to receive joysticks input.

- The new version is easier to use and includes a new and improved
sample Director movie.

Upgrades:
---------

Developers who have either licensed the previous version of
DirectControl Xtra in the past month or obtained a Corporate license
will automatically receive the upgrade free of charge, via e-mail.

Developers who have licensed the Xtra in the past but do not qualify
for a free upgrade are still entitled to a discount for upgrading to
the new version. Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] for more information.

Trial version:
--------------

A fully functional evaluation version of DirectControl Xtra can be
downloaded from our web site: http://www.directxtras.com/ .

The trial version includes documentation and a sample Director movie
that demonstrates the Xtra by retrieving the capabilities of
connected joysticks, displaying their status and moving an image
on the stage based on the selected joystick input.

We encourage interested developers to download the trial version
and look forward to your comments, suggestions, ideas and any
questions you might have.

Best Regards,
